Club exercise:
Bourbon vs. Tennessee Whiskey
Put Wild Turkey 101, Knob Creek 9, Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 and Uncle Nearest 1884 side-by-side.
The purpose isn’t to determine a winner. It’s to teach members how different production methods and mash bills influence the glass.
Uncle Nearest is particularly useful here because its portfolio provides a bridge between traditional Tennessee whiskey and modern premium American whiskey. Recent 2026 coverage identifies Uncle Nearest, Chattanooga, Nelson’s Green Brier and other newer producers as part of the expanding Tennessee whiskey category.
